I Switched To Adobe Lightroom

Julia made an excellent point about digital photography workflow. If you are at all serious about photography, consider it something you want to be good at and not just something you do when there’s a party or some other event you want to make a record of, then a good workflow is truly vital. For one thing you don’t want important photographs scattered throughout your hard drive, for another you want your work to be consistent, but mostly you need an application that can not only organize your photos, but also edit them and export them all within the same application. Without Aperture or Lightroom you’re fighting your workflow, not improving it. Which is fine for the casual shooter, not fine for the photographer.

Trying Is More Important Than Succeeding

We believe that after a time people will begin to take notice that the XtremeCamera galleries are displaying excellent photography, that our conversations are intelligent discussions on photography, and that however small our dent will be, we are making some inroads toward making people more critical about the photos that are being thrown up on photo sites and there will be less pats on the back and more critical thinking.

Busy Beavers Bring Video To XC

The most time consuming, most demanding, addition to the community is the new Video & Audio section. Since I was the one that spearheaded this section, championed its inclusion since the days when YouTube was still a tiny website used by its creators to exchange vacation videos, I thought I’d share with you just how hair-pulling, aspirin-gobbling, blood-pressure-exploding, experience this was to get ready to unveil. It was, in a word, a ‘bitch’. And the funny thing is, this video section was never designed to be a YouTube-type service. XtremeCamera Video and MP3’s is a more of a service to our premium members than a place to come to watch videos. Let’s face, when it comes to spending hours watching entertaining (sometimes moronic) videos, YouTube pretty much has the market cornered. But more on this later…
